Scholarship Information
One-year scholarships are awarded to qualified applicants. Qualifications for applying:
Active Member: (member, spouse, children)
Retired Member: (member, spouse, children)
Life Member: (member, spouse, children, grandchildren)
Deceased Life: (spouse, children, grandchildren)
If you are NOT a member of the NCNGA, to be eligible for a scholarship you must contact the office at 919-851-3390 and join. Scholarship recipients must attend an accredited institution of education and may re-apply each year by completing a current application and competing on the same basis as other Applicants.
College students with only one semester remaining may qualify for a partial scholarship.
SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
The Scholarship Selection Committee meets late March or early April to review applications. This committee is made of six people, three who read the high school applications and three who read the college applications. After applications are reviewed on the below criteria and selections approved by the Scholarship Fund Committee, notifications are sent to all applicants in mid-April to end of May. This Association takes your privacy in consideration and only the Program Coordinator will have access to your tax documents and any other confidential information. The Scholarship Selection Committe will Only have access to the redacted application and weighted scores.
Applications are individually and equitably evaluated on the basis of:
1. Academic Achievement:
Applicants grade point average on current official transcript.(GPA must be 2.0 or higher, and Applicant must be enrolled for a minimum of six (6) credit hours per semester)
2. Need:
Applicant's need for financial assistance in order to continue education.(Not required for AEL applicants).
3. Leadership/Citizenship:
Applicant's involvement and leadership in school, civic and/or community activities.
4. Additional Information:
Applicant's personal letter, unusual and/or specific circumstances, academic workload, quality of completed application package and other pertinent information.
An Academic Excellence/Leadership Scholarship is available to
one
(1) high
school student and
one (1) college student. These applications are evaluated on items 1, 3 and 4 listed
above.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION ADDENDUM
This addendum must be completed with the application if the applicant is a member of the
North Carolina National
Guard, ROTC, or any other military reserve component. The information is needed to determine
eligibility for specific
scholarships.

All applications received will become property of the TMF Scholarship Fund.

TRANSCRIPTS
High School Seniors -official, sealed high school transcript including first semester of grade twelve.
High School Graduates -official, sealed high school transcript.
College Freshman -official, sealed high school and college transcripts.
All other Applicants -official, sealed transcripts forall formal education completed after high school.

Single or Married Applicant - If you were claimed by your parents as a dependent on their taxes, please send
pages 1 and 2 of their last, filed tax return - form 1040.
If you were not a dependent and claimed yourself, please send pages 1 and 2 of your last, filed tax return – form 1040.
This is to ensure that the Scholarship Fund receives your proper'taxable income' so that accurate scoring can be done by the selection committee.
Transcripts from the IRS or electronically filed summary transcripts will NOT be accepted. The appropriate copy of the
forms listed above must be provided.
